It’s Friday once again and we are in a MARGINAL RISK for severe weather later today. We have rain moving towards us right now as of 0830 Local time. The main risks later today will be hail, winds, and torrential rainfall. Localized flooding is a strong possibility. Just our normal thunderstorms. Overall, we’ll be ok.

Concerning the eclipse on Monday, there are a lot of sales for eye protection out there that tell you their glasses are safe to look at the sun. BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL. The glasses need to have the following ISO NUMBER “ISO 12312-2” There have been some counterfeit glasses found out there so make sure yours are the correct ones. If you follow this hyperlink at the end of this statement, all the information needed is there. Take the time to read this so you and anyone in your families don’t damage their eyes. ONCE YOUR EYES ARE DAMAGED, IT’S PERMANENT. Here is the link;

I attended the Oklahoma Emergency Management Conference this past week and I have to say that you will reap the benefits of what was learned over the coming months. Next month is PREPAREDNESS MONTH and I will have some good information for you to read and take to your families. Only 10% of you will actually take the time to read that info but 10% is better than nothing. You may ask, where did that number come from? It came from averaging the number of folks in a county and dividing that number by those that have apps for warning purposes. Believe me we discussed this in Norman and it was pretty constant across the board.

Finally, we have at least a 20% chance for rain after today for the next 5 days. YES, that includes Monday. Just remember this, I am the messenger, I don’t control the weather. Hopefully that window to see the eclipse remains open for us and everyone else.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!!
MIKE
