0345L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-6/10/19

1-*STORM SIREN TEST TODAY AT NOON AS LONG AS WE ARE CLEAR TO PARTLY CLOUDY. Remember, storm sirens are OUTDOOR warning devices. *

2- I have been asked what the deal is with all the rainfall. When the gulf opens up, it brings with it deep tropical moisture. When we have this in place and it warms up, instability occurs in the atmosphere. Then you have fronts, troughs, the jet stream, low pressure systems and when they come together, convergence/ lift occurs and then we have the storms. Even when the gulf is basically closed off, some storm systems bring their own moisture with the jet stream from the Pacific. Either way, we have rain.  There is a lot more and it can be complicated so read, learn, and understand the atmosphere. We are always dealing with one extreme or the other. Just be prepared for all of them and you’ll be ok.

3- Mild weather today so if you have the opportunity, get outside and enjoy.

4- Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. You’re not prepared without it.

5- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Monday-Sunny with highs in the upper 70s. North winds around 10 mph.

Monday Night-Partly cloudy with lows in the lower 50s. Winds will be light and variable.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
