0310L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 05/06/24

*Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app so you can keep up with the latest from us and the NWS. I know many advisories and warnings are sent on dangerous days but at least you’re on top of what’s going on and you have the details. Here is a link to this morning forecast discussion. https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&issuedby=OUN&product=AFD

*MODERATE RISK for severe weather today. ALL HAZARDS ARE POSSIBLE. This doesn’t mean we will take a hit BUT make sure you are ready with your individual and work plans to protect yourself, your family, and your employees. What’s meant by all hazards? Softball size hail, winds upwards of 80+ mph, and large tornadoes, see 1st graphic.

*We have another weather briefing at 10 am this morning so I will go LIVE afterwards to explain what is new and what is expected and any additional information that the NWS has discussed. As stated yesterday, there may be 1 storm or there may be 10. NO ONE KNOWS. Models don’t give exact details so be wary of what’s being stated by those armchair weather experts.

*Per guidance, we are in that area where multiple storms MAY form so please stay on your toes and pay attention to the info being provided. We’ll have more information later in the morning.

*ALL GARFIELD COUNTY spotters, which includes Rural Fire, Sheriff deputies, and Enid Police, should be ready for deployment once we see where storms fire up. Information will be sent over our protected channels later this morning. Make sure you have re-familiarized yourselves on our communication guidelines.

OVERALL FOLKS, we’ll be ok but PAY CLOSE ATTENTION to what is going on and we’ll update as we can.

TAKE A DEEP BREATH, EXHALE, AND HAVE A GOOD DAY!
