0355L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-01/14/23

GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification/warning app. Being prepared, starts with this.

1- For the last 27 years I have talked about and virtually preached Preparedness. Garfield County should be one of the most prepared counties in Oklahoma. Are we? NO. Why is that? The reasons vary but the main reason is that IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN HERE. What’s funny, is when we are actually forecast to be in a severe weather scenario, I receive hundreds of calls on what do we do and where should we go?  Remember those statements- IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN HERE? One day, IT WILL. ARE YOU PREPARED? You better be because it my responsibility to put out the information to help you be prepared but it’s YOUR responsibility to apply that information. So, if you want to place blame on someone because YOU weren’t prepared, just remember that it was YOU that said IT WON’T HAPPEN HERE. One day it will. Are YOU ready?

2- DRY, WINDY, BUT MOSTLY SUNNY conditions will exist for the next 5 to 7 days with a very low chance for precip around mid-week. We are in an EXTREME DROUGHT so keep your eyes peeled for smoke and fire. Call 911 if you see any.

3- Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny and breezy. Highs in the upper 50s. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight- Partly cloudy and breezy. Not as cool with lows in the mid-40s. South winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
