0430L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK & INFO FROM GARFIELD CO. EMERGENCY MGMT-7/4/2020

1- Thunderstorms are a possibility this morning though severe storms are unlikely. If storms do occur here, heavy rainfall, maybe small hail, gusty winds, and intense lightning would be the main issues. They should be out of the area later this morning.

2- Overall, a good hot and humid day in store after the rain threat moves out. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Partly cloudy. A slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning. Highs in the mid 90s. Northeast winds around 10 mph. Chance of thunderstorms 20 percent.

Tonight-Mostly clear. Lows around 70. East winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable.

DIRECTORS COMMENT

It amazes me that you can sit out just off of a county road in the dark and watch folks set off fireworks. You turn on your emergency lights and drive up to advise them that it is illegal to fire them off and they deny that they were shooting them. I guess we have SMART/ TOUCHLESS  FIREWORKS that fire off automatically. The story here is simple; don’t fire them off on a county road. I asked them to leave and they did. All we are trying to do is prevent range fires and prevent firework injuries. Just be careful!!
