0350L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 5/6/23

* Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. NWS warnings and advisories automatically come through our app in detail. It is a great tool to have and it costs YOU, nothing. Get it today and research the whole app. It’s loaded with great info to get you and your family prepared!

* Very warm today with gusty southwest winds. The fire danger will be low but with drying winds, foliage will become vulnerable once again. I would discourage anyone from burning today since wind gusts will be up around 25 mph. Storm-wise, the atmosphere will be highly unstable but we will be lacking some of the ingredients needed for thunderstorms. “If that changes”, we would stand a chance for thunderstorms later today.

*Realistically, the higher threat for severe weather with winds and hail involved, will be in southern Oklahoma. IF YOU PLAN ON TRAVELING SOUTH, stay extremely weather aware down that way as later this afternoon and evening a very large hail and a wind threat will exist. It isn’t out of the question that tornadic weather could occur down south too. Just be careful.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny. Highs in the mid-90s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tonight-Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
