0335L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-10/31/2020

1- GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification app. If you don’t have it, you will need it as many did during our ice event this past week. You are not prepared without it!

2- WINDS will become our nemesis as they will increase ahead of a weak front that will move in early this evening. Timing is roughly between 6-8 pm. No rain is expected but northerly winds will be gusty for awhile after frontal passage. We will cool down a little after the front passes and then temps will recover and we look to have a good warmup this coming week. The FIRE DANGER will increase this week to so be careful out there and report any smoke or fire to 911.

3- IMPORTANT INFO- cleanup is occurring all around the area but I have noticed that many trees still have broken limbs up high that are not reachable. With winds coming up today from the south-southwest and then north-northwest later today, be EXTREMELY CAREFUL around those yards where branches may be stuck up there. The strong winds tend to work them loose and then they fall. INJURIES will result in the event you are struck by those branches. With Trick or Treating happening tonight, make sure the path to where the candy is, has been cleared.

4- Overall, we’ll be ok with a slight cool-off tonight and tomorrow then we warm up this next week. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Saturday-Sunny with a high near 69. South wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Saturday Night-Mostly clear with a low around 37. North wind 5 to 15 mph.

STAY SAFE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!

MIKE
