0325L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-11/01/2020

1- Warm days and cool nights will be on the menu for the next 6 to 7 days or so. After an ice storm, we have nice weather for the cleanup process so pickup, cleanup, and get prepared for the next event whenever that may be.

2- I have mentioned several times that we are in a La Nina weather pattern which allows us a 50/50 chance of having ice storms vs snowstorms. It’s like being in that transition area so you really don’t know for sure what will occur until those systems get closer and then arrive. We’ll just have to deal with it. KEEP IN MIND that even though many power poles and lines have been replaced, they can only hold so much weight before they give out. Wide area power outages could and will happen again so take what you learned from this event and get prepared for the next one. When will it happen? I don’t know but take the time to at least look over your situation and get prepared.

3-The above said, calling me in the middle of the night cursing me out because your power is out isn’t my fault. What have you done to mitigate that issue? Since you weren’t prepared for it this time, get prepared for the next time. Even as an emergency manager, I try to be as prepared as possible but mother nature seems to allow for things to happen that I didn’t think of. No one is perfect so do everything in your power to find that way to get better prepared and the next time won’t be so traumatic for you. Our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app could help in that process.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Sunday- Sunny, cooler. Highs in the upper 50s. North winds around 10 mph.

Sunday Night- Clear. Lows in the lower 30s. Light and variable winds.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
