0315L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-9/02/23

*Hot and dry will be the norm over the next 3 to 5 days. There is a very outside chance for rain by mid-week but again, not holding my breath just yet. As stated yesterday, temps will be in the upper 90s but the dew point temps will be in the mid-50s thus keeping the “oppressive” feeling away for a while. Humidity will be in the upper 20s so the FIRE DANGER continues to climb.

*Foliage, though still green, is very stressed due do to the heat. Use extreme caution if you plan on conducting a controlled burn and be sure and let dispatch know at 580-234-FIRE (3473). If you all see smoke or fire CALL 9-1-1.

*Yesterday began PREPAREDNESS MONTH here in Oklahoma. Here is a link to a document I wrote a few years ago that still applies today. The Link- https://gcem.org/about-us/preparedness-comments/   You can see preparedness info also on our app under YOUR EMERGENCY and click PREPAREDNESS. These will be modified a little through the month too.

*Overall, everything’s going to be alright, so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny. Highs in the mid-90s. South winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight- Clear. Lows in the mid-60s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

STAY SAFE AND STAY HYDRATED.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
