0340L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 4/16/23

*Sunny skies and NNW winds along with very dry conditions has our FIRE DANGER Elevated to Near Critical for today. Winds will be gusty this afternoon along with dew point temps in the low 20’s and relative humidity in the low 20’s to upper teens. We are still in an EXTREME DROUGHT and the Exceptional drought is creeping our way if we don’t receive any precipitation soon. There are 2 chances for rain this week. We can only hope.

*We continue to ask that there be NO CONTROLLED BURNING IF WINDS EXCEED 15 MPH. Also, if you all see any smoke or fire, call 911 so the proper response can be sent.

*Weather-wise, winds are low and slow this morning but that will change this afternoon so be careful out there. There will be plenty of sunshine so get out and enjoy.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny. Highs in the upper 60s. Northwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight- Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 30s. North winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming south after midnight.

* JUST FYI, we are hosting the NW Oklahoma Emergency Managers Workshop here in Enid Tuesday through Thursday. If anything, major occurs, I’ll have plenty of help. We expect around 45 to 55 personnel from all of NW Oklahoma.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
