0310L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 7/7/24
*There is a Slight Risk for severe weather later today and tonight. As I type this morning at 0250, we are under a severe thunderstorm warning due to the wind potential of winds to 60 mph. I have had wind gusts up to 45 mph at home so far with this line of storms. Expect heavy rain at times and gusty winds.
*For this morning, expect some heavy rainfall, possibly some small hail to penny size or so, and gusty winds. These storms have moved into Oklahoma from Kansas and we expect more of this later today and tonight. We could see rainfall totals upwards of 2 to 3 inches by Monday morning.
*This afternoon, we expect storms to form along a cold front and there will be a hail and wind threat along with a low chance for tornadoes in western Oklahoma. We’ll keep a close eye on that.
*Overall, we’ll be ok but maybe a bit soggy later today. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Today- Partly cloudy after midnight. A chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight, then showers and thunderstorms likely. Some thunderstorms may be severe. Locally heavy rainfall possible this afternoon. Highs in the lower 80s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
Tonight-Showers and thunderstorms. Some thunderstorms may be severe with heavy rainfall. Lows in the lower 60s. East winds 5 to 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph, becoming north after midnight. Chance of rain 90 percent.
