0320L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 6/16/24
*Hot and humid with a very slight chance for thunderstorms. If storms were to occur, wind and possibly hail would be the main threats. This will be our pattern for several days.
*Yesterday we had 5 fires within 20 to 30 minutes or so. We believe these were caused by a vehicle pulling a trailer dragging a chain causing sparks. As dry as we are now, sparks will cause fires. If you see a vehicle dragging anything that is causing sparks, either get their attention and let them know what’s going on or call dispatch and we’ll send law enforcement out to make contact with them. All we want is the sparking to stop. I have left a few reminders on this post for today that were posted yesterday. See below.
*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Today- Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid-90s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
Tonight- Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph in the evening.
REMINDER 1- we are getting warmer outside so make sure you take the proper precautions to stay cool. Heat exhaustion can become a medical issue real quick if you don’t stay hydrated properly. USE EXTREME CAUTION WHILE WORKING OUTDOORS!
REMINDER 2- Harvest is still on-going and farm equipment doesn’t move as fast as some folks like to go. Be patient and slow down.
REMINDER 3- The Fire Danger is increasing. If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately so a response can be sent. Also, keep an eye out for suspicious activity.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!
