0315L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 6/23/24

HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT from 1pm until 9pm this evening.

*Saturday’s temps of 99 and the heat index of 107 was a bit toasty for some and today may be a touch warmer. By the way, it’s summertime! We can look for our actual temperature’s around 100 again and with humidity around 29% and dew point temps in the low 60’s, we’ll be in the 105 or higher category for the Heat index. Winds will be a bit lighter today too. Either way, it will be toasty out there.

*Remember to stay hydrated with water or hydration type drinks. Stay away from energy drinks and caffeine. They don’t re-hydrate you. Heat issues can become an emergency real quick so if you start to feel strange and if you STOP SWEATING outside, you are in trouble so take the proper precautions. Seek medical attention if needed.

*Overall, we’ll be ok, just hot so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny. Hot with highs around 100. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight- Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid-70s. East winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming south after midnight.
