0315L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 3/16/25
IT’S GOING TO BE A ROUGH WEEK. WE ASKED THAT NO BURNING OCCURS SINCE WE ARE DANGEROUSLY DRY. REMEMBER THAT WE ARE IN A SEVERE DROUGHT NOW.
Our Task Force is back home and the Fire Danger continues. Winds today will be light but will increase overnight tonight. Monday and Tuesday will be a lesser repeat of Friday except wind gusts are forecast to be 50- 55 mph.
A Fire Weather Watch has already been issued for Monday and Tuesday. Make sure you have our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app downloaded as all NWS watches, warnings, and advisories automatically come through and this app doesn’t cost you anything. Daily posts are located under GCEM Blog on the app in the event you don’t have access to social media.
For today, humidity will be low and winds will be light but don’t let your guard down. We prefer that no controlled burning occur because on Friday, we were called to a few locations where embers apparently were smoldering and fires occurred. Please use EXTREME CAUTION if utilizing anything related to fire.
Overall for now, we’ll be ok so here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Sunday- Sunny. Highs in the lower 60s. Northwest winds around 5 mph, becoming west in the afternoon.
Sunday Night- Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 40s. South winds 10 to 15 mph.
HAVE A GOOD DAY!
