0320L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 10/27/24
*Sunny today with winds shifting from the northeast to the southeast. Winds will increase tonight and overnight bringing in a substantial increase for Monday. Secure any objects that could take flight as winds on Monday will be a bit stronger than last Thursday.
*FIRE WEATHER WATCH WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM NOON UNTIL 8PM on “Monday”
For today, we continue to state that controlled burning is NOT ADVISED but if you do burn, make sure there are no areas that continue to smolder as the winds tomorrow will cause those overlooked areas to rekindle. With wind gusts upwards of 48 mph on Monday could become a very intense situation depending on what is in the path of the rekindled fire. EXTREME CAUTION IS ADVISED.
*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:
Today- Sunny. Highs around 80. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight- Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Not as cool with lows in the lower 60s. Southeast winds around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph, becoming south 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph after midnight.
