0245L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 4/27/23

* Rainfall totals tell a story. I have 2 rain gauges on my fence, 6 feet apart. One had 3 inches of water and the other had 3.5 inches. Go figure. When I ask you all for your totals, I am averaging the region. I had one report of 3.90 and all the others were between 2.5 and 3.25 so far. WE received some beneficial rainfall. Will this break the drought? A little bit so at least we are heading in the right direction. We can still expect periods of light rain this morning so keep the umbrellas handy.

*The Fire Danger is very low. Couldn’t resist. Just FYI, I have stepped down from the HCFD Fire District. After 18 years, it was time. I will still be out and around on any major fire but will continue to do my Emergency Management job until December 2024 when I will retire. I AM BEGINNING TO LOOK FORWARD TO THAT!

*Weather-wise, we still can expect to have a few showers around through at least Saturday as the storm system that brought all the moisture moves out.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Thursday- Cloudy with a chance of showers with a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then partly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 60s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Thursday Night-Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s. East winds around 5 mph, becoming southeast after midnight.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
