0320L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 8/22/24

*The heat is slowly creeping upwards and we’ll see the heat index above 100 possibly on Friday. Today, we’ll be in the low 90s with the heat index in the mid-90’s. The winds will be our saving grace, so to speak as we’ll have southerly winds 15-20 mph gusting into the 30’s range. The fire danger is increasing so we ask that no controlled burning occur today because of the winds and if you see smoke or fire call 911 immediately.

Use caution while working outdoors and make sure outdoor animals are taken care of.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning. Highs in the lower 90s. Southeast winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 20 percent.

Tonight- Mostly clear. Lows around 70. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

*Be sure to download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. You’re not prepared without it.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
