0345L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-8/03/23

*HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR TODAY AND FRIDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 9PM, BOTH DAYS. “Heat index values” up to 106 are possible today and up to 110 on FRIDAY.

**Be sure to download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app and remember that the information I post on social media each day is located on this app under GCEM Blog and on the front page of our website at www.gcem.org.

*RELIEF is slowly on the way for early next week. A cold front is forecast to move in late Saturday night into early Sunday morning bringing temps down into the 90s on Sunday and the 80s for a few days after that. The front may also bring some rain with it but that remains to be seen. Winds will become northerly after frontal passage. We’ll see what happens this weekend.

*For today and through the weekend, just HOT! Continue to be extremely careful outdoors and pace yourselves as it doesn’t take long to become dehydrated under these conditions.

* I will send out FIRE WEATHER information to all fire personnel before 0900 this morning on the GCEM GROUP Protected Channel. There has been a few fires occurring while some farmers have been swathing and we’ll remain very dry. It doesn’t take much to start a fire so again keep your eyes peeled for smoke and fire and call 911 immediately if you see either one.

Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny, hot with highs around 104. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tonight- Partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Heat index values up to 106 early in the evening.

HAVE A GOOD DAY.
