0330L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-8/04/23

*HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR TODAY AND SATURDAY FROM NOON UNTIL 9PM, BOTH DAYS. “Heat index values” up to 109 are possible today and up to 111 on SATURDAY. SUNDAY will be transition day to cooler weather. That process will be slow in coming.

**Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. The GCEM Blog on the app is the same information I post early in the mornings and on the front page of our website at www.gcem.org. Eventually, we’ll stop posting on social media if they keep choking us back so make sure you have our app.

* The heat will continue for a few more days then a cold front bringing possibly some severe weather and much cooler temps moves in overnight Saturday night into early on Sunday. The cooler temps won’t be felt much until later in the day on Sunday and we’ll definitely notice the COOL TEMPS for several days next week. We’ll see what happens.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so hang in there. FIRE WEATHER conditions will be similar today as they were yesterday. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny. Hot with highs around 102. West winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming southwest this afternoon. Heat index values up to 108 this afternoon.

Tonight- Partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Humid with lows in the mid-70s. South winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming southeast after midnight. Chance of rain 20 percent. Heat index values up to 107 early in the evening.

STAY COOL AND HAVE A GOOD DAY!
