0335L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-2/3/22

1-WINTER STORM WARNING still in effect until 6pm tonight and we have a WIND CHILL ADVISORY in effect until Friday at noon. We could see “additional” snow accumulations of 1-3 inches by tonight. Another wave of snow is moving into the SW part of the state at this typing so we’ll see how this tracks and go from there. Right now, as I type at 0300, its 12 degrees with a wind chill of -5 degrees. Just a bit chilly so cover up as you get out this morning.

2-Based on my experience in the past and without being out to measure my points yet around the area for snow, it appears we have had around 4-5 inches of snow based on measuring here at home. I will get an official total out between 7 and 9 this morning.

3- OVERALL, we have had some substantial snowfall and we might see a little more. As stated earlier this week the WIND CHILL is the most dangerous part of this system. Protect your skin as high temps today may not get out of the teens and tonight’s low will be in the single digits. Wind chill temps will be below zero.

4- This said, here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Cloudy. A chance of snow late in the morning. Snow likely in the afternoon. Patchy blowing snow in the late morning and afternoon. Highs around 16. North winds 15 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 70 percent.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy. A chance of snow in the evening. Lows around 2. North winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of snow 50 percent.

Stay in, stay safe, and if you get out and about, SLOW DOWN!
