0335L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-01/12/23

WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 0600 LOCAL TIME THIS MORNING.

1- A cold front has passed through the area giving us strong northerly winds for the overnight hours. The strongest wind gust here in our area has been 40 mph at Woodring Airport at 0315 this morning. Winds will lay down some during the day but we’ll have wind speeds 10-20 mph with higher gusts.

2- The Fire Danger is increasing so we ask for the next several days with windy conditions that don’t try to do any controlled burning. We really don’t want to breathe any smoke right now. Use EXTREME CAUTION if your work utilizes anything related to fire. Keep your eyes peeled for any suspicious activity out there and call 911 if you see smoke or fire. Remember that we are still in an EXTREME DROUGHT.

3- Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny, cooler with highs in the mid-40s. North winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight- Mostly clear. Cold with lows in the lower 20s. North winds 5 to 10 mph.

4- GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification and preparedness app. We’re prepared, ARE YOU?

 HAVE A GOOD DAY!
