0305L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 6/26/25

We’ve stepped up to a MARGINAL Thunderstorm Risk area for today but only a 30% chance. The HEAT INDEX will be around the 97 degree mark so use extreme caution while working outdoors. At least we’ll have a strong breeze outside. If thunderstorms do occur, gusty winds and small hail would be possible. If you end up underneath any of the stronger cells, torrential rainfall can be expected. PWAT values are at 1.75 inches. This stands for “precipitable water.”  We’ll see what happens.

Tuesday, I posted info on fireworks according to state law. It is posted on my emergency management page on facebook. Here is that shortcut “on” that venue- @EGCEM and yes, it’s all caps. I am receiving a few calls concerning folks popping these out on county roads. You all need to contact the Sheriff’s office- 580-237-0244. If you notice people doing this, get a tag number, if possible and again, call the Sheriff.

Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:

Today- Mostly sunny. A chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the lower 90s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Tonight- Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Humid with lows in the lower 70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
