0415L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK & INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MGMT-3/26/2020

1-Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80’s around the area BUT if we see a lot of cirrus move in, this may hold them down a few degrees. Either way, the warmer temps are very welcome. Very minimal chance for rain later tonight as a front stalls along the OK/KS border. Most of the rain should stay in Grant County and southern Kansas, per guidance. Friday night we’ll possibly see some severe weather later in the evening.

2- ELEVATED FIRE WX conditions will exist Saturday as winds increase and humidity falls. Remember, if you see smoke or fire out there call 911. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly sunny with highs in the mid-80s. West winds, up to 10 mph shifting to the south in the afternoon.

Tonight-Partly cloudy with lows around 60. Southeast winds around 10 mph.

DIRECTOR’S COMMENTS

There are many folks that feel we in this county/state are not getting the resources we need. You’re right. After a virus hits, you have to know what it is, how it works, and then understand the right kind of testing that needs to occur before you can treat it effectively. Not many folks are getting tested as we don’t have enough test kits for this. All we can do is wait until the State Health Dept can provide more. PLEASE REMAIN CALM as best you can on all of this and as soon as more kits arrive, we can go into a faster testing mode. We actually have a plan for that but it doesn’t do any good unless the kits are available.  As I receive info on this mess, I will pass it along to you all.

HAVE A GOOD DAY
