0325L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 10/17/24

*The attached map shows the state and the drought conditions. We are under extreme and severe drought conditions at this time. Technically, it’s extreme or worse in most areas here in the county. The Fire Danger is ELEVATED and will remain this way through the weekend. Wind gusts will average around 30-35 mph today and Friday and around 25 mph over the weekend. We will ask that CONTROLLED BURNING NOT BE CONDUCTED at least through the weekend.

*There is a small possibility for rain later in the weekend into Monday but don’t hold your breath on that quite yet. If you see smoke or fire, call 911 asap so a quick response can be sent. Keep your eyes peeled for any SUSPICIOUS activity too.

*Overall, we’ll be ok. Here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny. Highs in the mid-70s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

Tonight- Clear. Lows in the upper 40s. South winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
