0335L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-6/22/21

1- The cool front came through and yesterday felt good. It was a nice break from the heat. We will see temps today around 85-90 degrees then starting on Wednesday, we return to high 90s and heat index temps into the 100s. Winds will increase later this morning with some gusts around 20 mph by this afternoon. FIRE WEATHER conditions will return too so please be careful out there as harvest continues. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Sunny, warmer. Highs in the upper 80s. South winds 10 to 20 mph.

Tonight-Clear. Lows in the mid-60s. South winds 15 to 20 mph.

2-Once again, and I know folks are getting tired of me stating this but if you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately. We do have some folks out there that are starting fires. They don’t understand that they are affecting someone’s livelihood. Then it’s a major challenge to get out there to put these fires out. It takes multiple departments to accomplish this especially when the wind is blowing. As the Fire Chief of the Hillsdale-Carrier Fire District, many members of our department are farmers. Most of our rural departments are this way. We take the arson thing very seriously and the fourth of July season is upon us. Many fields out there are around structures. Start a fire, Law Enforcement will hopefully find you and you will be prosecuted. Believe me, it’s nothing to brag about. It’s illegal to have fireworks inside the city limits of Enid. It’s also illegal to fire them off of a county road. Use COMMON SENSE and get permission from a landowner, preferably in writing, and have a good time. Just stay away from any crops.

The state law can be found on our www.gcem.org website below this post.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
