0335L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 5/2/23

* Another very nice day is expected with light winds. There will be some high clouds moving across the region but temps should be just right to be outdoors and enjoy. Rainfall chances this week will be dependent on timing of the storm systems out west, moving our way, the dryline, the fronts that will traverse the region along with the strength of the cap above us. If these things all come together just right, we stand a good chance to have some heavy rainfall and possibly some severe weather on Thursday and possibly again on Saturday with all hazards possible. No need to panic. We’ll see how the forecasts verify.

*We have entered into the month where our likelihood of having severe weather is highest. The gulf opens up, the fronts push in along with the storm systems out west pushing through, development of the dryline which is a focal point of forcing and the cap being strong but likely to be overcome by the instability of these factors coming together. NOW is the time to be PREPARED so you know what you will be doing when severe weather occurs. DON’T WAIT TO MAKE A PLAN on storm days. Emotional planning can also make for mistakes. SIT DOWN AND THINK THIS THROUGH ON A NICE DAY SO YOU HAVE THAT MENTAL IDEA FOR THOSE ROUGH DAYS THAT WILL OCCUR.

* Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app and a lot of your planning can come from this. NWS warnings and advisories will automatically come through our app, IN DETAIL! It is a great tool to have and it costs you nothing.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny. Highs in the lower 70s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight- Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the upper 40s. East winds around 5 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
