0255L-TUESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-11/29/22

GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification and preparedness app. If you don’t have it, you will need it at some point in the future. Get it now and become familiar with it before a major event occurs.

1- South-southwest WINDS will be a factor today as a strong cold front enters the area. We should see a wind shift late this morning into the early afternoon hours. The colder air will flow right on in after frontal passage eventually dropping into the low 20s overnight. Wind chill temps may drop down to around 15 degrees early Wednesday morning.

2- We aren’t expecting any precip with this front but there is a low chance for some rain over the weekend as another cold front moves through the area on Friday bringing that chance for over the weekend. We’ll see what happens. Just be prepared for much colder conditions.

4- Fire weather will become a concern as these winds dry out the dead foliage around the region so keep your eyes peeled for smoke or fire. Call 911 accordingly.

3- Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny, breezy with highs in the lower 60s. Temperature falling into the upper 40s this afternoon. Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph, becoming northwest 20 to 25 mph this afternoon.
