GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-WEDNESDAY, JULY 5, 2017

FIRST-Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Today-Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph.
Tonight-Mostly clear, with a low around 67. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening.
SECOND– I noticed in some of the comments yesterday that many were stating that they couldn’t get NOAA Weather radio on their weather radios. That was because the station was down due to powerlines down in the Drummond area. It should be operational now.
THIRD– Each week on Wednesday between 1130am and 1pm we test our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app, Nixle and CriticalComm- a paging system that goes to our emergency services folks and a few civilians. We have done this for years and as was stated in a few posts, these work great when they are not under stress. Just remember that when you are looking for means to stay informed, make sure you utilize 2 or 3 different venues or more. This way you hopefully receive the info in time. If it’s over the internet, information MAY not be as timely as you need it. That’s cyberspace.
FINALLY, always remember that it’s up to you to protect yourself and your family. I have stated this for years. If training is what most folks need, contact me and we can setup a basic preparedness class along with a basic weather class so you understand how that works in our area of the world. We’re all in this together so let’s get prepared out there!!

Stay safe and as we get a bit hotter this week, the heat index will rise. PACE YOURSELF outside.
Have a great day!!
MIKE
