0315L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-6/28/23

*Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app and be LIKE us, PREPARED for most anything.

*HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 1200L-(12PM) UNTIL 2100L-(9PM) TONIGHT. The Heat Index or air temperature values up to 110 are expected. Hot temps and high humidity may cause heat related illness to occur. Use extreme caution while outdoors.

*Well, we didn’t have the super high winds but there were gusts in the area around 50-60 mph. There were only 2 reports that I saw that were 100 mph, 1 in Kansas and 1 in Beaver County near Forgan, so overall, we did ok. Not much rain either so at least we got prepared really quick for a wind event that thankfully didn’t happen.

* TODAY, we will deal with 105 degree plus temps along with some gusty winds. The FIRE DANGER will increase as we move through the week so keep that in mind. I will post the law on Fireworks again starting today separately of this post to keep folks aware of the dangers. There are still UNCUT wheatfields and that will be an expensive mistake if folks set those on fire and get caught.

*Overall, we’ll be ok since we’ll feel like french-fries later this afternoon. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Partly sunny this morning, then clearing. Hot with highs around 107. Southwest winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

Tonight- Clear. Lows in the mid-70s. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph. Heat index values up to 105 early in the evening.

Have a good day!
