0324L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 3/19/25

HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOW UNTIL 7PM TONIGHT

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7PM. The timeframe has been extended.

*The front is out to our west and we should see a windshift in the next several hours. Wind gusts in western Kansas have averaged 60-70 mph and there have been some 70-80 mph winds in the Guymon area. Not sure if we will see those type of gusts but we’ll probably see some between 55 to 65 mph before it’s all said and done. Wind gusts over 50 are entering the western edge of the state as I type here at 0245L. We’ll just wait and see what happens.

The low pressure center in central Kansas is impressive from a satellite view and there is a chance we could see a little rain as this rotates through the area during the day. Not holding my breath but it’s a 40% chance though. See the forecast below.

Overall, we’ll be ok so here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Partly sunny with a chance of sprinkles this morning, then mostly cloudy with a chance of showers this afternoon. Very windy and much cooler with highs in the upper 40s. Northwest winds 35 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy and very windy. Cold with lows in the upper 20s. Northwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph, diminishing to 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph after midnight.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
