FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM UNTIL 9 PM TONIGHT

The smoke issue should lessen today as winds will be southwesterly unless fire erupts in SW Oklahoma on a large scale. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen.

I am going to ask folks to keep a very close eye out there for arsonists. We have a few here in the county and we need to get them caught. If you see ANYTHING suspicious, call Law Enforcement immediately.
That said, you all know the drill on the above warnings so be very careful. There were several controlled burns yesterday that added to the smoke issue here. Today will be a lot different because winds are going to pick up. We ask that you don’t burn today. If you do and it gets out of control and off of your property, you are liable for any damage that occurs to a neighbor’s property and you could also be billed for the response. It could be expensive. Hold off on any burning today.

Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Wednesday-Sunny, with a high near 74. Windy, with a south southwest wind 9 to 14 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 36 mph.
Wednesday Night-Mostly clear, with a low around 47. South wind 9 to 13 mph.

FINALLY, STAY SAFE AND HOPEFULLY WE BREATHE EASIER TODAY.
