0440L-WEDNESDAY UPDATE FROM ENID/GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-5/23/18

1-WARM TO HOT WITH FAIRLY LIGHT WINDS CAN BE EXPECTED TODAY.

2- We are still in an EXTREME DROUGHT on the west side of the county and a SEVERE DROUGHT on the east side. We are not in a BURN BAN right now BUT continue to be careful out there. ANYONE wanting to do prescribed burning, needs to adhere to Forestry’s Guidelines. Call your burning intentions into dispatch through the respective department’s numbers : https://gcem.org/emergency-numbers/

3-We will test the GARFIELD COUNTY EM app Mass notification system today between 1130 and 1pm. This is our main notification system along with lesser users of NIXLE.

4- We tested our voice sirens this past Monday and found a few issues with 3 of them. These are being fixed and we will test these several times a week for the next few months. All it will entail is a test test test. This is only a test. These are mainly used right now to alert folks at the parks and ball parks that something is happening that could affect their visit to that respective park.

5- Visit our website at https://gcem.org/ and familiarize yourselves with it. This along with our app can keep you as prepared as you could possibly need to be. My BLOG is also on the website along with being on our app. Changes will be coming this summer on our Facebook posts. More on this later.

6-Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Partly cloudy. Isolated showers and thunderstorms early. Highs in the lower 90s. South winds around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.

Tonight-Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 60s. Southeast winds around 10 mph in the evening becoming light and variable.
