0355L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-7/27/22

1- There are no headlines for HEAT today in our area at the time of this typing. That’s a good thing. There is rain in the forecast but the big question may be-WHEN for sure? We’ll see what happens as the day progresses. That said, here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms this morning, then partly sunny with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Highs in the mid-90s. Southeast winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming east this afternoon. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Tonight-A chance of thunderstorms. Showers with lows around 70. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80 percent.

2- Our GARFIELD COUNTY TASK FORCE TEAM 3 MADE IT HOME LATE LAST NIGHT AND TEAM 1 WILL DEPLOY THIS MORNING AROUND 7AM. We weren’t going to send anyone yesterday but wind shifts and fire behavior didn’t cooperate and the call for help came. Today’s deployment will be our last for a day or so to rehab our folks and do some truck clean up and maintenance. Conditions out west are a bit different and rough on vehicles. Overall, you all would be proud of all these folks that responded.

3- Donations-wise, I want to again say a BIG THANK YOU to all that did donate. It is greatly appreciated. For those that couldn’t, that’s ok and there will be other major events where we ask for help. This situation is a sign that our folks here in the area are very generous and it’s greatly appreciated. It means a lot to us.

4- FINALLY, we hope we do see some rainfall but not in the torrential sense. Just a few days of steady rainfall would be nice. We’ll see what happens.

STAY SAFE AND COOL.  HAVE A GREAT DAY!
