0407L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-8/17/22

1- COOLER TODAY AND TONIGHT thanks to a cold front. We should be cooler through Friday and then we climb back up into the 90s for the weekend and then another front pushes in. There will be rain chances with the next one too. We’ll see what happens.

2- Remember, we are still in a severe drought so use extreme caution while utilizing anything related to fire. Stay aware out in the county area for suspicious activity and also for any smoke or fire. Since winds will be up, the fire spread conditions will be a little higher. Call 911 so a quick response can be sent.

3- Other than the above, we’ll be ok. Starting Monday, I will start a series on WINTER PREPAREDNESS and what you really should be doing now. I am deciding whether to do short videos or type a lot. Let me know your ideas and I will prepare that way. I cannot stress to you all that with everything out there the way it is, the rumors, etc., this may be a stressful winter. You CAN’T WAIT to start this process “after” an event occurs, it’s too late then. There will be items of interest for folks from the residential side to the business side. Hopefully a few will actually take heed and get ready.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of thunderstorms. A chance of showers, mainly this morning. Much cooler with highs in the lower 80s. North winds around 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 60s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
