0315L-SATURDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-8/05/23

* We are in an ENHANCED RISK for severe weather later today and overnite. Main threats will be winds upwards of 80 mph and hail. This severe event appears that it will be an overnite event. We’ll see how this shapes up.

*HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FOR TODAY FROM NOON UNTIL 9PM. “Heat index values” up to 110 are possible. We will be very humid and it will be very noticeable as we get into the afternoon. Stay hydrated.

* OVERALL, we’ll be ok, just secure anything that could take flight for later today and tonite. We may see some thunderstorm activity this morning too. Expect gusty winds and heavy rainfall if you end up under any of the cells. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN.

Saturday- Mostly sunny. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Hot with highs around 100. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent. Heat index values up to 106 in the afternoon.

Saturday Night-Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Humid with lows around 70. East winds 5 to 10 mph, becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of rain 50 percent.
