0330L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK AND INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-8/9/19

1-Thunderstorms in the area, as I type, are not severe and we don’t expect any this morning. Right now we are under a FLOOD ADVISORY from Lahoma/ Drummond/Waukomis/Bison, into Kingfisher County. Upwards of 3-4+ inches has fallen through this area and higher amounts in Kingfisher County, so use caution while driving.

2- It appears we will remain in this pattern for a while so just expect periods of thunderstorms and our biggest threat will be heavy rainfall. Be careful in low lying areas as the ground re-saturates as flooding may occur. Remember, TURN AROUND, DON’T DROWN.

3- Here’s a heads up: Since social media doesn’t allow everyone that allegedly follows our EM PAGE to receive our notifications, we will be utilizing our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app quite a bit more in the coming weeks and months. If you live here and have a smartphone, make sure you download this app. You’ll receive NWS WARNINGS AND ADVISORIES automatically and important LOCAL info FROM OUR OFFICE. You’re better prepared WITH IT than without it. We will continue to post on the ENID/GARFIELD COUNTY EM PAGE so make sure you have your settings to receive first so hopefully you don’t miss out.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Friday-100 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7am. Mostly cloudy with a high near 91. Heat index values as high as 101. East wind around 10 mph.

Friday Night-20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1am. Mostly cloudy with a low around 74. East wind 5 to 10 mph.

HAVE A GOOD DAY AND WATCH OUT FOR LOW LYING AREA FLOODING.
