0420L-FRIDAY WEATHER UPDATE FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-1/12/18
Winter is back and will be around for the foreseeable future. The main weather issue yesterday was the strong winds and eventually the wind chill as temps fell. Today, the wind will continue to be an issue but we add the WIND CHILL in stronger terms since we have arctic air in place once again. Wind chills today could be in the minus 3 degree area so make sure you bundle the kids up and adults need to cover up too.
Sunday looks to be the balmy day with highs in the 40’s. We’ll see on that one. No measurable precipitation is in the forecast for at least the next week or so. Garfield County basically in in a 50/50 severe/moderate drought and locations out west are EXTREME. Even though we are colder, we can still have devastating fires so continue to be careful and report any smoke or fire to 911.
Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Friday-Mostly sunny, with a high near 33. Wind chill values as low as -3. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east in the afternoon.
Friday Night-Partly cloudy, with a low around 12. North wind 5 to 10 mph.
Have a great day!!
MIKE
