0345L-FRIDAY OUTLOOK & INFO FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-3/13/20

1-We had a cold front come through the area yesterday and it brought cooler NE winds with it. Rain chances go up for us later today and into tonight so if it does rain, we are looking at possibly an inch or so and maybe some thunder. Nothing severe, per guidance, is anticipated right now. There is a better chance for some heavy weather next week but model guidance isn’t really clear about this yet.

2- Overall, enjoy the cooler weather and keep in mind that storm season is coming. Make sure you and your families are prepared. Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app and this will be one of the most important things you can do.

3- I have been attending briefings and discussions on the COVID-19 situation. There is NO reason to panic on this BUT be aware of your surroundings. Stay away from folks who like to cough and sneeze and NOT COVER their mouths or face. Make sure your hand sanitizer is at least 60% alcohol. COVID-19 is a respiratory illness, not a gastrointestinal illness. Research this for yourself and don’t go broke buying up items that are not necessary to your everyday needs. We’ll be ok as long as you don’t allow the TV MEDIA to continue to panic everyone. I am extremely cautious of the present flu issue than COVID-19. These are viruses that we all need to stay very vigilant about and continue to take the proper precautions to protect ourselves. Take those few extra steps to make sure you keep your hands washed and STAY AWAY FROM ANYONE WHO IS SICK! If you are SICK, STAY AT HOME.

4- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

TODAY-Showers mainly after 1pm. High near 47 with east northeast wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

TONIGHT-Showers with thunderstorms also possible after 10pm. Low around 39 with east northeast wind 10 to 15 mph with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!!
