0255L-MONDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-12/19/22

Download our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app. You’re better prepared with it than without it.

1- Less than a week before Christmas and we are going to get a lot colder. As most already know, we have 2 fronts on the way. One later tonight and the one most discussed will be on Thursday. There is a 45% chance it may snow here later this week with maybe an inch or more. Not holding my breath on the snow right now but we’ll see.

2- The key element that is most concerning is the WIND CHILL. It has an affect on everything. If you or your children end up with frostbite, you will regret it most likely for the rest of your life.  The most important things to remember are these: 1a- STAY INSIDE if you don’t have to be out, 2a- COVER YOUR SKIN if you plan on being outside while wind chill temps are very low, If you plan on traveling, take cold air precautions, and have blankets, food, a CHARGED cell phone, hand warmers, and water in case you have car trouble.

2- Overall, you’ll be ok as long as YOU PREPARE accordingly for what you do every day. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Mostly sunny. Highs around 50. South winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

Tonight- Mostly cloudy. Cold with lows in the upper 20s. East winds around 5 mph, becoming north after midnight

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
