0345L-SUNDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-8/06/23

* Showers and thunderstorms will continue for a while this morning. We are expecting a cold front to push in this morning and the cooler and dryer air should move through this afternoon, per guidance. It will be nice to be cooler for a week or so after the heat we’ve had over the last few weeks.

* The thunderstorms we are experiencing this morning are severe due to the possibility of wind gusts upwards of 60 mph. Haven’t seen those yet but they cover a lot of area. Overall, we appear to be ok so just enjoy the light show and the thunder for a while and it will move out sometime this morning. We will have another chance for rain late tonight overnight.

* Over the next week, expect low rain chances each day and cooler temps. I won’t argue with this one at all. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny. Highs around 90. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight- Mostly clear in the evening, then mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the mid-60s. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 50 percent.

*FINALLY, several folks have attempted to contact me on messenger. It is sporadic on when it wants to notify me. I received 2 notification at 2 am this morning from around 8 pm last night. It’s best to call since social media isn’t the most reliable means to contact me. I will say for those at the lake when you know the possibility for any storms coming in from the high plains. It normally not a good idea to camp out when you are aware of this scenario. STAY SAFE!

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
