0330L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT- 4/17/25
We have a storm system coming that may bring us some much needed rainfall starting Friday through the weekend. Until then, a RED FLAG FIRE WARNING will be in effect from 11 am until 9 pm this evening for counties to our west. Temps in the 90s and wind gusts upwards of 40 to 45 mph puts western Oklahoma in this warning area. Alfalfa and Major county are included in the warning area. Both counties border us so stay aware and report smoke and fire if you see any. We are under severe drought conditions so again, keep your eyes peeled for smoke and fire.
Friday we will be in a SLIGHT RISK area for severe weather with large hail and damaging winds being the main threats. See the graphic attached. This may change some so we’ll see what happens
Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN:
Today- Sunny, breezy with highs in the mid-90s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
Tonight- Mostly clear in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. Breezy with lows in the lower 60s. South winds 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
