0410L-THURSDAY UPDATE FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-2/22/18

I stepped outside, I looked out the window and observed the precip on the ground and can verify there’s ice everywhere! Stay home if possible.

1- WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY HAS BEEN EXTENDED INTO THIS AFTERNOON UNTIL 1500L (3PM). GETTING ABOVE FREEZING TODAY MAY NOT HAPPEN. Freezing drizzle and possibly some freezing rain will continue to fall off and on for most of the day worsening conditions. Road crews will do their best starting with the main roads on sanding but keep in mind it will still be very slick out there. If you don’t need to be out, STAY AT HOME. If you get out, please drive slow. WINDS will be light so hopefully power issues will be minimal.

2- SCHOOLS ARE OUT TODAY IN GARFIELD COUNTY AND SEVERAL OF THE SURROUNDING COUNTIES. It wouldn’t surprise me if they cancelled Friday too. Temps will gradually warm some today but getting ABOVE freezing will be difficult so we’ll see what happens.

3-Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Thursday-Areas of freezing drizzle before 9am, then a chance of freezing rain, mainly between 9am and 3pm. Cloudy, with a high near 32. North northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming light and variable. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Thursday Night-Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31. South wind around 6 mph.

STAY IN, STAY WARM, STAY SAFE.
