0315L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-3/10/22

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MAY BE ISSUED FOR LATER TODAY AND TONIGHT.

1- A winter storm system will affect the area later today and overnight. We might see some rain this afternoon and then it will transition over to snow as we fall below 32 degrees. This transition should occur later this afternoon. Keep in mind that all of this can and probably will change some throughout the day so just be prepared.

2- As I type this at 0250L guidance is showing our area to receive around 4 inches of snow but as always, this may change some more or less. Wind chill temps will be in the low teens to single digits overnight into Friday morning so be careful if you plan on being outdoors.

3- Overall, we’ll be ok so just slow down while driving and be sure to wear a coat while outdoors. Next week we’ll warm back up into the 60s, 70s, and 80s by next weekend. We’ll see how that works out. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Thursday-Partly sunny in the morning, then mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain and freezing rain in the afternoon. Cooler with highs around 40. Northeast winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming north 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.

Thursday Night-Cloudy. A slight chance of snow with patchy freezing drizzle in the evening, then snow likely after midnight. Snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible. Ice accumulation around a trace. Cold with lows in the lower 20s. North winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
