0400L-THURSDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 03/16/23

* First of all, thank you to those that came to the Storm Spotter Training last night and a big thank you to Rick Smith, the Warning Coordination Meteorologist from the NWS/NORMAN. We had 70 in attendance.

*A cold front is working its way towards us and should move through the area later this morning. Winds have been a factor since yesterday and will continue to be so even after the front moves through. Expect wind gusts upwards of 40 mph from the north after frontal passage. More details in the forecast below.

*NOTE-If you plan on traveling into the southeast part of the state later today, stay extremely weather aware as the threat for severe weather is enhanced in that area. On the Fire side here in our area, if you see smoke or fire, call 911 so a quick response can be dispatched.

* Overall, we’ll be ok, just a little windblown once again. Here’s your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today-Mostly cloudy with isolated thunderstorms. Scattered showers this morning, then numerous showers this afternoon. Breezy with highs in the mid-60s. Temperature falling into the mid-40s this afternoon. South winds 20 to 25 mph, becoming northwest this afternoon. Gusts up to 40 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.

Tonight-Mostly cloudy with numerous rain showers with isolated snow showers in the evening, then partly cloudy after midnight. Blustery and much colder with lows in the mid-20s. North winds 15 to 25 mph. Gusts up to 45 mph in the evening. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
