0345L WEATHER UPDATE FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-01/16/18

1-WIND CHILL ADVISORY STILL IN EFFECT UNTIL 10am THIS MORNING. At this hour-0315, its 5 degrees with a minus 9 wind chill. It’s dangerously cold so make sure skin is covered. Frost bite can occur in less than 30 minutes.

2-THE FIRE DANGER is still out there. We are very dry so please be extremely careful. Call 911 to report ANY smoke or fire.

3-We will begin a warmup starting on Wednesday on through the weekend when our temps should make it into the 50’s and 60’s. This will be a nice change. Now, if only we can receive some rain.

4- As everyone knows, we usually go from one extreme to another. As stated, we need rain. Hopefully when the rain does come, it comes lightly for several days before we get the heavier rainfall. There is no rain in sight for us right now but just wanted to throw that out there.

5- Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Tuesday-Sunny with highs near 20. Wind chill values as low as -10. North northwest wind 10 to 15 mph gusting to 20 mph.

Tuesday Night-Clear with lows around 4. Wind chill values to -3. North winds 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable.
