0255L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-12/14/22

**THE KVNX “VANCE” RADAR WILL BE DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 14TH FROM APPROXIMATELY 9AM (15Z) UNTIL 11AM (17Z). **

1- We received around an inch of rain yesterday morning. It won’t have a major effect of the drought but it is much needed rainfall. We are in an Extreme Drought so just be careful out there as foliage dries out. If you see smoke or fire, call 911. For controlled burns, call 580-234-FIRE (3473).

2- We will have several fronts push through the region over the next 5 to 7 days. High temps will be below what is called average. There is a hint, per guidance, that shows possibly colder air next week. It’s too early to make any determinations other than we’ll be cold. There is no hint of any devastating weather like some social-rologists out there are saying. Remember that I utilize info only from official weather sources like the NWS, SPC, NHC, and WPC.

3- Also on number 2 above noting that there are a few meteorologists on social media that do a good job. They understand that 1 model out there doesn’t mean the world is going to end. It takes several models and a strong understanding of those to make a good forecast. I compare social-rologists to the tv folks- public panic vs PUBLIC SAFETY. You choose who you trust.

4- Here is your COUNTY-WIDE forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Sunny, cooler with highs in the mid-40s. West winds 15-20 mph gusting to 30 mph.

Tonight- Clear, cold with lows in the upper 20s. West winds 10 to 15 mph.
