0415L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-2/17/21

GARFIELD COUNTY EM is our notification app. It’s the best way to keep up with weather and other information from GCEM and the NWS.

1- WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS STILL IN EFFECT UNTIL 6PM TODAY. Light accumulation of additional snow is possible. Per my measurements this morning, we have received right at 4 inches of very powdery snow. Not too bad overall.

2-Light snow will continue through roughly mid-morning and move out. Overall, not the horrible scenario the panic based media made but we did see some nice snowfall. Hopefully, this will be the end of it.

3- If you have to get out, SLOW DOWN and take your time. Be sure and cover your skin as these temps are still low enough to give you frostbite. You all should know what to do by now. Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Wednesday-20 percent chance of snow before 9am. Cloudy with a high near 16. Wind chill values as low as -3. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday Night-Mostly cloudy with a low around 6. Wind chill values as low as -5. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

FINALLY- As I stated in my video last night, I did receive several threats because power was turned off at their residences. Here is my suggestion for those who were a bit ticked off. PREPAREDNESS is something I have spoken about for over 25 years. TAKE THE TIME to sit and reflect on what happened, where you should have been in the preparedness process, and then make every effort to be prepared next time.

This isn’t the first time I have been threatened and it won’t be the last, but I feel everyone should know and understand that preparedness is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY. It’s my job to get information out there, it’s your job to take that info and apply it to your respective situations. We may not like what’s happening but we can deal with it knowing we prepared as best we could. HAVE A GREAT DAY AND I SEE above freezing temperatures in the very near future. I am not clairvoyant, I read the forecast. See what you can learn by reading? HOPE!

Mike
