0310L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT 02/21/24

*Another nice day but again with some wind. We are expecting a shortwave trough to move through the area today bringing some high clouds and dryer air. Winds shouldn’t exceed 20 mph as this occurs but there is a slight chance for thunderstorms just to our east and northeast. We’ll see how that develops as the day wears on. We’ll have a front push through overnight tonight shifting winds out of the NNW with some gusts upwards of 35-40 mph. No controlled burning is requested on THURSDAY.

* There were several fires yesterday in and around the county and I want to remind everyone that we are still extremely dry out there. Use good common sense before doing a controlled burn and be sure to let our dispatch know about your burn. You can reach them at 580-234-FIRE (3473). In the event there are fires around the area, please stay clear of that area. It’s safer for you and for emergency services responders. One last thing, if you see any suspicious activity out there, call the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office AT 580-237-0244.

*Overall, we’ll be ok so here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

Today- Partly sunny. Highs in the mid-70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight-Mostly clear. Lows in the mid-40s. South winds 10 to 15 mph, becoming west after midnight.

HAVE A GOOD DAY!
