0400L-WEDNESDAY OUTLOOK FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-2/27/19
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY still in effect until 6pm Wednesday evening. If you’re going to be out and about, drive carefully and use extreme caution.
1) After looking at weather balloon information, atmospheric soundings as we call them, for our area, the cold arctic air here is shallow, thus freezing drizzle. It will remain this way through at least tonight. A POSSIBLE SNOW EVENT, 30% chance, may be in the making for the weekend. That would be interesting!!
2) We will remain cold for the foreseeable future so dress accordingly. I was eating lunch in OKC yesterday and a guy came in wearing shorts and a heavy coat complaining it was cold. It took everything I had to keep my mouth shut on that comment. You can see where that was going.
3) ROAD CONDITIONS around the county this morning ARE very slick. Take your time while driving and don’t get too confident that the roads are improving, they’re not. Just be careful. Road conditions can be found on the front page of our gcem.org website.
4) Here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;
Wednesday-Cloudy. Areas of light freezing drizzle in the morning, then a slight chance of light freezing drizzle in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 20s. North winds 10 to 15 mph.
Wednesday Night-Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of light freezing drizzle in the evening. Lows around 17. North winds 10 to 15 mph.
Stay safe and I’ll send out advisories today as needed over our GARFIELD COUNTY EM app.
