0340L-WEDNESDAY UPDATE FROM GARFIELD COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT-1/31/18

1-As most of you now know, the governor has placed over half the state in a BURN BAN until at least MID FEBRUARY. Rules, regulations, exceptions, concerning this ban can be found here-http://www.forestry.ok.gov/burn-ban-info

2-We highly advise ANYONE thinking they can do what they want, to re-think that strategy. If you are in violation of the law, we will put your fire out, we will have already notified Law Enforcement, and you may end up paying for the response, especially if your fire burns up property not owned by you. The safe thing to do here is NOT BURN. As SMOKEY BEAR would say for us, ONLY YOU CAN PREVENT WILDLAND FIRES!

3-WEATHERWISE; a cold front will ease through the area around mid-day shifting the winds to a northerly direction 5-15 mph with higher gusts. No precip is expected with this front. The forecast for any precip in the area for the foreseeable future is low. Timing of fronts, troughs, and moisture return ARE ALL FACTORS ON WHETHER OR NOT ACTUAL PRECIP OCCURS.

4-That said- here is your forecast from the NWS/NORMAN;

TODAY-Sunny, with a high near 65. South southwest wind 5 to 15 mph becoming north in the afternoon.

TONIGHT- Low around 33. North wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

5-FIRE DANGER IS ELEVATED

HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

MIKE
